Note: Your pump motor may say 3.6 or 4.0 HP SPL. SPL stands for special and can make things a bit misconceiving. It is used as marketing HP to help sale off the showroom floor and allows the spa manufacturer to get by with calling it something larger then it is really is. Motors should be matched by their amperage and not the HP. In this case the motor is actually 2 HP falling in the window of 8.5 Amps
