  2. How things measure up

Throughout our catalog you will notice that all the plumbing parts as well as pump parts and other items are referred to as 1/2", 3/4", 1", 1-1/2" or 2". Yet when you measure "across" the fitting you don't come up with any one of these measurements. It can get confusing. So Instead of trying to explain why, we have put together a list of our most common items sold and listed there "spoken" measurements as well as how they really measure up.

"OD" = Outside Diameter
"ID" = Inside Diamter

Pump Wetends

Wet ends; also referred to as pumps, is the plastic molded housing that is mounted at the end of the motor. It has two port connections, one being the suction and the other being the return, which can be rotated 360 degrees. Both these ports have plumbing attached to them via connection of a union or quick disconnect. Pump/ Wet Ends come in various styles and shapes, they are sold as 1-1/2", 2" or 2-1/2". The 2-1/2" measurement is typically found on the suction side only. Measure the Outside Diameter of both the inlet and outlet to confirm what size wet-end or pump you will need to order.
