A circulation pump, often called circ pump, can be defined as a pump used either solely for filtering and heating applications or, if with dual speeds, for heating/filtering (low speed) & jet therapy (high speed). 

A circulation pump is the most important pump in your spa. It is responsible for the intake of unfiltered water from the body of the spa, pushing it through the filter and heater, before returning it to the spa. A non-working circulation pump will shut down the operation of the entire spa or hot tub.

Circulation pumps can come in many sizes, voltages, horsepower, number of speeds, and in both high-flow and low-flow varieties.
