The Balboa Ultimax Pump is very common and can be found in many OEM spas and hot tubs. Rated at 2.0HP, this pump is often used for both Circulation / Heating (Low Speed), as well as Therapy Jets (High Speed.)

** Please Note, this Pump model number has been changed by the manufacturer. Formally 1016043, 1016204, 1016012, 1016181 & 1016228, it has been changed to 5235208-S. All specs and functions remain the same.**

**This pump is labeled as 2.0 Horsepower. To properly match your existing, be sure to match amp rating and voltage. If you have an Ultimax 56 frame pump and your current amp rating (high speed) is between 7-9 amps / 230v, this is the correct match.**

Motor not as pictured

Motor in picture is very similar to the one I needed to replace, and this pictured base would have been the same. However, motor received has slightly different ampacities, and base is narrow and smaller. No Century motor labeling. Brand received is US Motors. Plumbing and electrical connections were a match, but the different base plate made for some challenges. Pump/motor has been running well since installed a week ago.

Pump Review

Very good product description, great pricing, outstanding customer support, fast shipping! I ordered new pump to replace my 9 year old pump (Ultimax Model 1016169) that wasn't moving water and sounded like it was jammed. After I RCVD the part within few days, I disassembled my old pump only to find out that one of the jet components got stuck in the old pump wet side impeller and jammed it. I have decided to replace old pump anyway. It was an easy swap of cables and overall installation of a new pump. Works great and more energy efficient. There was no apparent damage to my old pump impeller or pump itself and I will keep it as a spare since my spa has 3 of these pumps installed. Definitely will order again in the future from you guys if I will need replacements.

Hardest part was making sure it was correct one to order. Spacare.com confirmed it was correct one. This was a direct replacement. Removed mounting bolts, water fittings and pump. Replaced with this one and everything lined up correctly. Now I have a quiet, leak free pump. If I have issues with other pumps I will replace them with this one again as rebuild (labor only) was 2/3 price for new.

New pump and motor after 8 years and running like new again!

"It's installed and working awesome! Only issue I had was with wires from my spa pac. Balboa uses red wire for high speed. All good and running like new. Old pump was 8 years old and sounds like the bearings went bad. Was humming and slow starting at low speed. High speed was loosing horse power. Then codes of low flow and overheat started to show up. Once this new pump and motor went in ALL TROUBLES GONE!!! Thank you SPACARE!!!!"
